DIY Coptic Stitch Junk Journals

Are you a fan of junk journals, sketchbooks, or notebooks in general? Have you ever wished you knew how to make an affordable customized journal out of things you already have lying around your house? If so, you should join us for a DIY Junk Journal Bookbinding workshop at Artesana Pottery Studio on Friday October 30th from 6 to 9 pm! In this class, you will learn how to transform everyday recycled materials into a lovely journal you can customize and use however you like! Using coptic stitch binding, you will craft a book that lies completely flat and that can include a variety of papers. You don’t need any previous bookbinding experience—just bring your curiosity, patience, and any favorite papers and stationery you want to include in your binding and decorations! Limited seats are available. The ticket price includes access to bookbinding materials for the workshop, instruction, and refreshments. This class will be taught by multi-media artist Noel Aguayo-Olivares (@artie_noel_). Noel is a visual arts student at Princeton University currently on a gap year. They enjoy working in a variety of mediums including textiles, illustration, and bookbinding. In sixth grade, they made their first coptic stitch book and absolutely fell in love with the art of making books by hand. After years of self-taught experience, they’ve made all sorts of creative artist books and love sharing their passion for bookbinding!
